Complete Package
Most artists, charities and small businesses will be best suited by a complete package including the initial web site design and creation, hosting this site on a server, arranging for the registration of a domain name, managing the site for one year and ensuring that the site is properly recognised by the various search engines and directory services. If you already have a web site, please see "Taking over an existing site" below.
A standard site in these circumstances will typically require 4-6 pages of information, including a gallery of photographs or examples of work. This will be built in a style to suit you, with a custom-designed layout (not just a set of fixed templates), and will include the appropriate pages out of those familiar ones you see on many sites:
- home/introduction page
- gallery / portfolio / examples of work
- information about the business / artist
- frequently asked pages
- contact information, including email address and enquiry form to fill in
- links to other sites and resources
A standard site along these lines will involve a fixed cost of £200 for initial design and creation, including hosting and maintenance for one year. The basic text and any photographs will be supplied by you, though we will prepare photographs for use (e.g. resizing, creating thumbnails, etc.) This includes the cost of a .co.uk domain name; domain names in other categories will typically cost extra, and we will charge this at cost price.
After the initial year, we will continue to regularly review the search engine results, make changes to keep the web pages current and monitor site usage, all for a fixed fee (for a standard 4 to 6 page site) of £100 per year (see maintenance below).
Custom Package
If you have additional needs, such as multiple input forms, extensive gallery requirements, streaming video, or other complex requirements they can all be done. Please contact us to discuss your needs.
Taking over an existing site
If you already have an existing web site, and would like us to take over managing it, we can do that. The existing pages, photos, etc. will be moved over to our hosting facilities, with as few changes as possible. We will review the current search engine positioning, and recommend any changes we think are desirable. IOf you wish, we will also make suggestions on the existing page layout, features, etc. to make the site more accessible, user-friendly and better positioned within the search engines.
This adoption of the existing content will typically be done for no cost (i.e. included in the first year maintenance), however if there are significant changes needed to improve search engine optimisation, or because the site needs refreshing anyway, then there would be a charge of £10 per page for the conversion.
The first year of managing and maintaining the site will cost £100 (for a standard, 4 to 6 page site). More complex or larger sites will cost £25 per page per year.
Maintenance and management of an existing site
We are happy to do this, however depending on the hosting company being used, and their facilities, we may be unable to offer our full range of features on such sites. We will generally be able to manage Search Engine Optimization and regular updates, but some of the feedback and statistics may be unavailable. In certain cases, such as sites hosted by "easy web site" companies such as Spanglefish or Moonfruit there are limitations on what can be done on those sites.
Hosting Only
Sorry, we do not handle "hosting only" sites. We can provide Content Management Systems that allow you to modify and update your own site, but we do not believe it is cost-effective for us to provide only the hosting of the site.
